Nokia announces slew of feature and Android phones at IFA2019

Nokia Feature Phones 2019 IFA
At the ongoing IFA2019, Nokia announced new feature phones and Android smartphones. Starting with the entry-level Nokia 110, featuring an MP3 player, FM radio and also the nostalgic Snake game. The phone runs on Nokia Series 30+ software and is powered by Spreadtrum 6531E processor. It has a 1.77-inch QQVGA display and has 4MB RAM with support for 32MB Micro SD card. The phone has a QVGA rear camera and has an 800mAh battery that provides 14 hours of talk time.

The second phone is a Nokia 2720 Flip, which is a feature smartphone type. It is powered by KaiOS, has 512MB RAM, 4GB storage and uses a Qualcomm 205 processor. The phone has a main QVGA display of 2.8-inch and the front display is 1.3-inch. This is a 4G phone with WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. It also supports WiFi Hotspots so that you can share your data connection. The phone features a dedicated Google Assistant Button which can also be used as an Emergency button to send SMSes to your near and dear ones. The camera is of Nokia Flip 2720 is 2-megapixel.

The interesting announcement of Nokia at the event was the Nokia 800 Tough. This is also a 4G phone with hardware specifications similar to the Nokia 2720 Flip. However, as per the name, this phone is made for people who want to use their phones under extreme conditions. This phone is also powered by KaiOS and can run apps like Facebook and WhatsApp. Built to endure extremely wet conditions, Nokia 800 Tough can withstand being submerged in water as deep as 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes. It is also dustproof and is protected from accidental drops on the hardest of surfaces, like concrete, from as high up as 1.8 meters. Nokia 800 Tough is MIL-STD-810G compliant, so it’s built and tested to meet military standards and can withstand temperatures ranging from -20 C to +55 C.

Nokia 6.2 and Nokia 7.2

Apart from these feature phones, Nokia announced the Nokia 6.2 and Nokia 7.2 Android phones. The Nokia 6.2 is powered by Snapdragon 636 processor and comes with RAM options of 3GB/4GB and storage options of 32/64/128GB. It supports MicroSD card up to 512GB. The 6.3-inch FHD+ with PureDisplay is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. The Nokia 6.2 features triple camera at the rear with LED flash, there is a 16-megapixel primary camera, 5-megapixel depth sensor and 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens. The front-facing camera 8-megapixel. Nokia 6.2 has a 3500mAh battery and comes with Android 9 OS. This phone is under the Android One program and hence will receive two years of update directly from Google.

The Nokia 7.2 smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon 660 processor and comes with 4GB+64GB and 6GB+128GB option. The screen of the phone is 6.3-inch FHD+ with PureDisplay technology that upscales SDR content to HDR. The phone comes with a 3.5-mm jack, has FM radio and features Qualcomm aptX audio. The highlight of the phone is the triple rear camera by ZEISS Optics. The primary camera is 48-megapixel, 5-megapixel depth sensor, and 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens. The front camera is 20-megapixel.

Although the phones have been announced for European markets, but they will soon land to Indian shores.
