Xiaomi introduced the latest flagship phone in China on account of its 8th anniversary, the Mi8. Not only this, they announced three variants of the phone, a special explorer edition, featuring a transparent back casing and under-screen fingerprint scanner, Mi8 SE and regular Mi8.
The phone resembles like the iPhone X. The screen size is 6.21-inch with Samsung AMOLED notched display sporting an FHD+ resolution of 2248×1080. It also has the 18.7:9 aspect ratio. There are dual rear 12-megapixel cameras that are Sony IMX363 sensor and supports full-pixel dual-core focusing, four-axis optical image stabilisation, AI scene recognition, zoom and portrait mode.
In terms of hardware, the phone is powered by Snapdragon 845 chipset with 6GB RAM and storage options range from 64GB/128GB/256GB. The battery is rated at 3400mAh that supports QC4+ fast charge.
In terms of selling price, Xiaomi 8 6GB+64GB version retails for 2699 yuan (~Rs.28,500), 6GB+128GB version for 2999 yuan (~Rs. 31,500) and the 6GB+256GB version for 3299 yuan (~Rs. 35,000).
The other version, Mi8 SE is a scaled down version of the main phone that runs on Snapdragon 710 processor, featuring 5.88-inch AMOLED screen and rear dual cameras of 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel. The range also supports 3D face unlock.
The phone is currently available in China, however, there are speculations that it would also be available in other countries including India.
