Since sometime, Xiaomi was teasing of an upcoming phone in a new series. Today they have unveiled the Redmi Y1, their first Y-series phone focussed on selfie lovers. The highlight of the phone is the front facing 16-megapixel camera with LED selfie light. The rear camera is 13-megapixel with PDAF.
In other specifications, the phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset with 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The display of the phone is 5.5-inch with Gorilla Glass protection. This is dual-SIM phone with additional slot for external storage up to 128GB.
The Redmi Y1 is powered by 3080mAh battery. The phone is priced at Rs. 8,999 and will be available in Gold and Dark Gray colours. The higher version with 4GB/64GB storage will retail for Rs. 10,999. There is also an entry level version of the phone called Y1-Lite, this comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage and will sell for Rs. 6,999. The phones will be available on Amazon India and later via offline stores. Alongside, Xiaomi also announced the availability of MIUI 9 stable for phones from 2012 till recent.
