Xiaomi announced the Mi 5X in China. This is a mid-range device and will appeal to users looking for a value for money phone. Powered by the Snapdragon 625 processor, 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, the highlight of the Mi 5X is the dual rear cameras. The two lenses used in the phone are 12-megapixel wide angle and another 12-megapixel telephoto. The phone will be the first one in Xiaomis’ lineup to come installed with MIUI 9 out-of-the-box.
With regards to the display, it features 5.5-inch screen. The phone features full metal body with anti-fingerprint coating that will avoid collecting finger smudges. The fingerprint sensor, much like Redmi series is located at the rear. In China, the phone is priced at RMB 1499, approx Rs. 15,000 in India. We will have to wait and see Xiaomis’ strategy for India as at this price point, the Redmi Note 4 is performing well for them. Mi 5X could be the replacement for Mi5 which did not have excellent sales for Xiaomi. Hence Xiaomi might keep the pricing in the range of Rs. 16,500 to 18,000, just under Rs. 20,000.
