Intel today announced their new generation of Core processors. The Y and U-series processors boast improvements over the previous generation in terms of performance and power management. Said to be built for the immersive internet, the 7th Gen Core series takes advantage of the 14nm process, making it up to 70 percent faster in productivity compared to a 5-year old PC or up to 12 percent compared to Skylake-powered ones.
The new generation is optimised to stream 4K all day (up to 9.5 hours) or create 4K videos quickly, thanks to the HEVC 10-bit and VP9 decode capability along with gaming improvements that allows to play graphic intensive games like Overwatch on even a thin notebook PC.
Intel says over 100 devices are in the pipeline for the rest of the year and we reckon most of them will be announced in the next few days at IFA in Berlin.
