A features such as this should have been implemented long ago but I guess it’s better late than never. Sony has confirmed to Polygon that they’re “preparing to offer a 2-step verification feature,” however there’s no exact timeline as to when the feature will be available.
Two-factor authentication will bolster the PlayStation Network’s security by adding a layer of security, prompting users to enter an extra piece of code over the existing password.
PlayStation Network has been in the eye of the storm since its breach in 2011 where the network’s 77 million accounts were compromised and Sony had to completely shutdown the service for 23 days to control it.
