WD has announced a new OS for network-attached drives (NAS) and second generation My Cloud Mirror. The new device sports two RAID 1 configured hard drives that mirror the content, thus ensuring the content is safe in case one of the drives goes kaput. It also comes with a 512MB RAM for faster file transfer and runs My Cloud OS 3.
The next part of the announcement is My Cloud OS 3 that brings an intuitive user interface with enhanced backup and sync capability. The OS now gives access to a Mycloud.com account that gives access to user’s data synced across multiple PCs. The new OS also allows users to set up automatic camera-roll backup of photos from smartphones and tablets and offers a new transfer tool that enables users to easily and quickly move their files to My Cloud devices.
The My Cloud Mirror Gen 2 personal cloud storage device is priced at Rs. 23500 for 4 TB, Rs. 30000 for 6TB, Rs. 37500 for 8TB and Rs. 55000 for 12 TB variants. The WD My Cloud OS 3 on the other hand will be available at the end of the month as a free download on devices like My Cloud, My Cloud Mirror and My Cloud Expert Series EX2/EX4.
