The biggest bane for Indian smartphone vendors like Micromax is the continuous software support. Google’s Android One seems to solve that issue and it seems Micromax is also working on a handset that will be powered by CyanogenMod. The report is obviously unconfirmed but a deal like this can attract some ire from Google since CyanogenMod is an alternative to Google’s Android OS.
For the uninitiated, CyanogenMod is a widely used aftermarket firmware that gives a new lease of life to handsets that manufacturers have officially dropped support of. Cyanogen Inc. has also has deals with Oppo and OnePlus to provide software for their handsets.
The CM Micromax phone is rumoured to go official sometime later this year.
