Google’s initiative to bring as many users online made the company bring an Internet-enabled rickshaw in the rural part of India. As part of Google’s ‘Helping Women Get Online’ program, the Internet rickshaw arrived in Maheshwar in Madhya Pradesh and helped “local female weavers with training sessions on basic Internet use as well as skills related to their profession such as stitching techniques.”
The Google program provides free training sessions and basic internet usage tips to women where only 66 million women are estimated to be online out of the 200 million connected population.
