PS4 v1.7 firmware update will add video editing support

In addition to announcing the sales milestone, Sony also announced a major firmware update that is expected to hit the PS4 soon.

Although Sony promises many new features in the v1.70 update, there are two features that Sony’s highlighting for now.

First is the SHAREfactory that will allow users to edit their captured video clips and personalise them with special effects using filters, transitions and themes. Users will be able to share the videos on Facebook or export them to a USB drive with Share Anywhere.

Next up is the improved version of the Play as You Download feature. Users will now be able to pre-download a pre-ordered game. If the user has the auto-download feature enabled, the console will automatically download the game and unlock it on the predefined date and time so that a user can play the game on launch day.
