Believe it or not, smartwatches are gaining some traction. With Samsung unveiling their second-gen watches today, a report by CNET claims that Google is gearing up to launch its own smartphone variant. However, the report says that this will not happen at this year’s MWC but rather an official acknowledgement will come in March followed by the unveiling at the Google I/O in June.
The report also says that Google has roped in its current Nexus phone partner – LG to design the hardware while the software will be controlled by Google with the integration of Google Now and search.
Google and LG’s association for a smartwatch was rumoured in March last year as well, however, nothing concrete came out of that.
