LG Chem, part of LG Corp. has confirmed to reveal next generation batteries that will be used in future devices. LG Chem categorises its batteries into a) Stepped Battery b) Curved Battery c) Cable Battery.
Stepped and Curved batteries are already into mass production with stepped batteries already being used in the LG G2. The curved battery will power devices featuring curved screens or flexible displays like smartphones, watches or glasses. The company utilises its “Stack & Folding technology which reduces physical stress when realizing the curved design of battery pack”.
The most interesting advancement is the cable battery that is bendable, wearable and can be tied into a knot. The cable battery could be used in wearable devices like a necklace or a watch due to its bendy nature, low electricity and waterproof features. LG will initiate the mass production of cable batteries in the coming years.
