Sweden’s Ericsson has sued Micromax in Delhi High Court for infringing standards-essentials patents. Ericsson claims despite for being in talks for three years, they could not reach an agreement with Micromax and are now seeking Rs. 100 crore in damages. The court in an interim order ruled Micromax to pay 1.25% to 2% of the sale price of disputed devices and has even allowed Ericsson to inspect Micromax’s other devices for patent violation.
Needless to say, Micromax is not happy with the interim order and said Ericsson is demanding an “irrational and inequitable licence fees” but they’re willing to negotiate on FRAND terms.
