Before GPS-based navigation was a thing, many Indians relied (and I believe still do) on directions and locations given by passers-by on the street. Google is apparently trying to do a similar thing with Mapathon 2013 that allows Indian users to edit, add or correct locations and places in their neighbourhood.
Mapathon 2013 will start from Feb 12 and will allow every one residing in India to correct map details with the help of Map Maker. To thank for the hard work, Google will also give prizes to top 1000 contributors that includes Galaxy Note 800 tablet, Galaxy S II, Flipkart.com vouchers and t-shirts.
