In addition to the upcoming Mac OS, Apple also unveiled a new version of iOS for its handheld devices. The iOS 6 will bring over 200 new features, most notably the Maps app. iOS 6 will include vector-based Maps app that promises the overall experience to be smooth with turn-by-turn voice navigation, 3D views, real-time traffic etc.
Other improvements include an evolved Siri that will work with the new iPad, Facebook integration, iCloud support with Shared Photo Streams, all new Passbook app that scans boarding passes, coupons etc. to be displayed on the home screen at a particular time, Guided Access that disables hardware buttons to lock into a specific app and more.
iOS 6 will be available to iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users in fall whereas developers can download the beta right now from the Apple Developers page.
