Corning Inc. unveiled a new flexible glass at the SID 2012 expo. The Willow Glass is thin and flexible glass that can be used either with LCD or OLED panels. Corning says the potential applications for the Willow Glass are enormous and are produced using their proprietary fusion process, thus making them really thin like a sheet of copy paper.
Willow Glass can be processed at a very high500oC temperature and produced using “roll-to-roll” technique just like the newspapers.
Corning is currently shipping samples of its Willow Glass to its customers.
