HTC’s last phone sporting a physical QWERTY keyboard – ChaCha came about a year back and apparently it was the last one to come out of the Taiwanese company’s stable. At an event in Seattle, HTC’s design team confirmed that they’ve moved away from phones with physical keyboards since there is a lot of demand for touchscreen phones.
Emphasize on touchscreen is understandable since most Androids and iOS devices come with a touchscreen display but completely writing off a form factor that is devoured by many avid messaging fans seems to be harsh.
Perhaps, HTC could give the best of both worlds like the Desire Z.
