Android seeing 850,000 device activations every day

Android is penetrating the mobile phone market by leaps and bounds and the new activation numbers released by Andy Rubin confirm that. The SVP of Google Mobile and Digital Content confirmed that they’re seeing over 850,000 Android devices getting activated every day. This is a 250 percent growth year-on-year, making total number of Android devices in the hands of consumers pass the 300 million mark.

Rubin also highlighted the surge in the number of apps on the Android Market, which is 450,000 apps compared to 150,000 apps last year.

Google is at MWC showcasing apps and Android OS features like Android Beam at the expo.
