Nintendo has officially confirmed the Wii successor today. There’s no name to the next-generation console but Nintendo will release Wii 2, which we’re calling it tentatively, will be released in 2012.

Nintendo will give the first taste of the new console at the E3 expo on June 7 with concrete specifications, pricing and availability details.

The Wii 2 has been in the rumor mill for last couple of years and the most recent one claims the Nintendo console to be more powerful than Xbox 360 and PS3 and will support HD resolution.
