Asus has kicked off CeBIT 2011 by revealing more details of the WAVI Xtion (pronounced as way-vee action) that was first showcased at CES. WAVI Xtion is a Kinect-like device that uses the same PrimeSense motion-sensing technology to bring gesture-based input and motion-sense gaming to the PC.
The WAVI Xtion comprises of WAVI – the wireless media streaming device and Xtion to detect motion senses. The combo can be controlled with Asus’ exclusive Xtion Portal user interface and allows streaming of HD movies wirelessly via WHDI technology.
Asus says the initial launch will come with two motion sensing games – MayaFit Cardio Lite and BeatBooster but Xtion will allow users to remap keyboard commands to motion gestures for other third-party games.
Developers won’t be left out as Asus has confirmed to release Xtion Pro developer kit to create more gesture-based entertainment content.
