UPDATE: WD will sell the 3TB drive for Rs.10,700 in India.
WD today unveiled a new HDD in its Caviar Green family that boasts the world’s largest storage capacity. The SATA HDD can store data up to 3TB of data on its 750GB-per platter areal density and is equipped with Advanced Format technology that is optimized for both Mac and Windows OSes.
Moreover, the HDD features WD GreenPower Technology, which means the drive consumes less power while at the same time enhances performance and reliability.
The 3TB Caviar Green goes for $239 and is bundled with an Advanced Host Controller Interface (AHCI)-compliant Host Bus Adapter (HBA) that helps to overcome current restrictions by enabling the OS to use the correct driver to support larger-capacity HDDs.
