Intel who developed High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) to prevent piraters from copying high-definition content has confirmed that the recently leaked HDCP workaround is the real deal.
Intel’s spokesperson Tom Waldrop says, “What we have confirmed through testing is that you can derive keys for devices from this published material that do work with the keys produced by our security technology… this circumvention does appear to work.”
However, despite the master key working, Intel doesn’t seem to be worried about it because to copy HDCP copyrighted content, a user needs to have a dedicated device with a chip embedded with this info.
