Indian government asking Research in Motion to give access to their servers is not new but this time the Indian government looks adamant in their demand. The Ministry of Home Affairs have pointed out that Blackberry makers have been complying with other countries so they should do the same with India or will be asked to pack their bags.
“If they don’t follow our guidelines, we will have no option but to ask them to stop their operations in India,” an official said.
Messages sent from a Blackberry device are encrypted as they pass through a server from Canada. This encryption does not give any access to the Indian govt. to keep a tab on any suspicious message.
Indian govt. wants RIM to setup a similar server in India so that they can monitor all incoming and outgoing messages.
