Xtand Go Review

There are number of car mount solutions available for iPhone but this accessory from Taiwan-based Just Mobile is different. Dubbed as Xtand Go, the accessory can mount various gadgets in addition to the iPhone and can be mounted on windshield and dashboard of cars.

Xtand Go Review

Xtand Go comes in a minimal package featuring a suction cup, retractable arm, a small screwdriver flushed into the arm, the ‘X’ holder and 3 Go buttons with 3 dual-sided adhesive tapes. Xtand Go’s X holder is nothing but an X-shaped iPhone holder made out of matte finished plastic instead of the metallic body, we found in the original Xtand.

Xtand Go Review

Setting up the Xtand Go is really easy. The retractable or the folding arm is the mediator between the iPhone holder and the suction cup. The X holder is clipped of the arm on one side whereas the other side is clipped with the suction cup. The iPhone is then firmly placed in the holder and with the help of the folding arm, a user can adjust and rotate to set the iPhone to an optimal angle. Finally, the suction cup can be twisted to mount on the glass firmly.

However, if you’re like me who feels distracted with anything on the windshield, Just Mobile bundles what they call as Go Buttons and adhesive tapes. The tapes are basically applied to non-glass surfaces like say dashboards or for uses other than cars – maybe desks. The dual-sided adhesive tape is fixed on the desired location while the second sticky side sticks the Go button to clip the retractable arm. These Go buttons play an important part to make Xtand Go extendable to a number of gadgets.

Xtand Go Review

iPhones with cases, iPod touch or any other gadget for that matter can be hooked up by just attaching the Go button with the device. As I said, Just Mobile bundles 3 Go buttons which I reckon is less. A plausible solution could be bundling more Go buttons or allow consumers to buy those buttons separately.

A $40 price tag may look a bit pricey for a car mount but considering a perfect fit with iPhone and compatible with number of other smartphones, PNDs etc. and mountable on any type of surface, Xtand Go seems worthy for that price.

Rating: 35stars

Pros: Design, Compatible with various gadgets
Cons: No options to buy additional Go buttons
