Seagate has been producing hard drives for the past 30 years but their first SSD has seen the light of day yesterday. Dubbed as Pulsar, the SSDs are said to be apt for enterprise and server applications because of its unprecedented quality and durability.
The 2.5-inch single-level cell (SLC) Pulsar SSDs support SATA interface, comes in storage options of up to 200GB and delivers a sequential read/write speed of 240/200 MB/s respectively. Seagate also claims the drives offer protection against loss of data in case of power shutdown.
Pulsar SSDs began shipping to select OEMs in September while other interested OEMs can acquire a sample now.
