Mac fanboys vouch for Mac OS’ security and bug-free environment but here is a case where the new OS reportedly wipes off the user data if the Guest Account option is enabled. This apparently happens when the Leopard user who had the Guest Account option enabled upgrades to Snow Leopard, causing Snow Leopard to delete the user data after a reboot.
The bug is known for quite some time and good thing is that Apple has acknowledged it and are working on it. “We are aware of the issue, which occurs only in extremely rare cases, and we are working on a fix,” said an Apple representative.
In the meantime, there’s a temporary workaround, which is to disable Guest Account and re-enabling it again after the upgrade.
