Western Digital unveils 1TB 2.5-inch HDD

Western Digital’s newly announced 1TB HDD has taken the crown to be the industry’s highest capacity 2.5-inch drive. Measuring just 12.5mm thick, WD is pitching this capacious drive apt for external USB HDDs, in addition to the notebooks. Few features it boasts are silent operation with WhisperDrive, shock resistance with the help of ShockGuard and SecurePark ensures high reliability.

The 1TB drive hails from the Blue Scorpio range and if a terabyte seems a lot more space to fill, WD is also offering the same advantages in a 750GB Blue Scorpio drive.

Both the drives are selling (for now, 1TB is available with My Passport USB external drives) for $249.99 (1TB) and $189.99 (750GB).
