Nvidia Quadro FX 4800 GPU for Mac

 

Nvidia at the NAB 2009, unveiled a Mac Pro compatible GPU meant for professionals working in architecture, content creation, science or medicine.

Priced at $1,800, FX 4800’s Mac compatibility comes with the standard 3-pin stereo connector which is said to give “true 3D stereoscopic imaging” and a prerequisite for many Mac professionals.

It also has CUDA parallel computing support, 76.8GB/s memory bandwidth, two Dual Link DVI, stereo connector and is Boot Camp compatible.

It will start selling in May through Apple retail and online stores as well as Apple resellers.

    @ Herber: Yeah!You’re right. That card has such serious power.

    Absolutely this card will be very saleable to market specifically to those who really are dying to have a power card like this. But I guess, not all are hooked into this kind of interest. Some will only settle for a certain product that will just simply work. With the price of this card, middle-class people will be hesitant to buy this, knowing that there are also pretty good cards in the market that can still serve fairly.

    My guess is that this is built and priced for a certain segment of the market.

    And there’s probably enough margin in the product for it to have some near term price reductions once the initial selling period is over.

    I’m sure these guys have done their market research

    Yes there is, but not as great as this one. About the price, we all know that they’re all sky-high priced at first. We’ll know the results maybe after a month. 🙂

    @Hair Stylist School comment # 4: I think you need to purchase it first; it’s not built in your computer. And it cost like over a thousand dollars but I think you can get if for a cheaper price if you will try to find a coupon before buying itfor it.
