ION 2600 is Atom powered handheld with a built-in printer

Bangalore based Procsys is selling ION 2600 handheld device to cater businesses’ Point of Service (PoS) application needs. The ION 2600 is somewhat revolutionary for the PoS category because of the fact that it is powered by an Atom processor. It does effectively handle businesses various needs by supporting Smart card readers/writers, biometrics and built-in thermal printer but the device can also doubled up as a competent MID.

It comes with Atom choices of 1.1GHz/1.3GHz/1.6GHz, 512MB/1GB RAM, 4/8/16GB SSD, 4.1-inch WVGA touchscreen, Bluetooth, USB 2.0 and can run various OSes like Ubuntu Linux, Win XP/XPe or Win CE.

For internet connectivity, it includes Ethernet jack, Wi-Fi and GPRS/EDGE. There’s also a speaker out, mic in and loudspeaker.

It is powered by an unspecified Li-Poly battery with an estimated 6-8 hours of runtime.
