AMD launches ATI Radeon HD 4890 GPU

After being sighted in the wild and getting an extensive review, AMD has officially announced HD 4890 bragging 1.36 TeraFLOPs of compute power, making it the fastest GPU available in the market. The card’s got a GB of GDDR5 memory, 800 stream processing units, DirectX 10.1 support and CrossfireX support.

The card also features HDMI out with 7.1 channel surround sound, picture-in-picture and second generation Unified Video Decoder (UVD 2.0) for smooth video playback.

It is available for $249 or for $229 at select etailers after a mail-in rebate.
