Update: Apparently, the 17-inch iMac is the same old plastic variant being offered only through educational channel.
Apple’s generally tight lipped about its future products but it looks like they have slipped one this time. This month’s educational newsletter shows Apple offering a new 17-inch iMac starting from $899. However, we are unsure if the smaller iMacs are limited to only from the educational sector or will be offered to a larger customer base later. Apple had a 17-inch iMac in its portfolio which they phased out about two years back.
Currently, the educational as well as the consumer store displays the iMac line starting from 20-inch.
