It seems Nokia’s unofficial threat worked for them as well as other companies too in Finland. The Finnish Parliament has passed the legislation that will allow Finnish companies to spy their employee’s emails.
However, the new law does not permit companies to spy on all the email contents. Instead, a company can go through the recipient and senders list, time and see if the email contains an attachment.
Early last month, it was reported that Nokia was pressurizing the government to legalize employee snooping in order to protect a company’s IP rights.
