The stage is set for tomorrow. State-owned MTNL will be launching the first ever 3G service for the Indian telecom users in New Delhi. PM, Dr. Manmohan Singh will be present to inaugurate it as India takes a giant leap in the telecom industry. MTNL will not charge any fees for the first two months of the service as users will be able to enjoy high speed internet access with speeds ranging from 386Kbps to 2Mbps.
Though private players are yet to bid for the 3G spectrum, the Department of Telecommunication had already awarded spectrum to MTNL and BSNL. BSNL is the next expected entrant.
