Sony PRS-700 e-Book reader enters third generation

October 3, 2008 By Kunal Gangar 4 Comments

Sony announced their new e-book reader, PRS-700 which boasts a touch screen panel. The 6-inch display is based on e-paper technology and is touch sensitive which tries to blur the line between a real book and an electronic reader. A user can slide his finger on the screen to mimic flipping a page of a real book. There’s also a virtual QWERTY keyboard, search function within the document and a built-in LED light for late night reads. Sony has made this e-book reader convincingly well which can also play non-DRMed MP3 and AAC files and supports many text formats that can be converted before viewing.

Battery life is also good with 7,500 continuous page turns or up to two weeks of reading. The reader is available now for pre-order on Sony Style for $400.

@sundar: Since the reader is not available in India and even on eBay, the only option you have is to find someone who can import it for you.
