Sony STR-DG510 AV Receiver

If you are looking for an AV receiver with a decent price tag then your search may not last long. Sony’s STR-DG510 AV receiver is the one which provides all the basic features under $200 and also connectivity options like HDMI.

The total sound power it offers of 500 watts with 100 watts in 5 different channels to give you a good sound output. There are decoders present like Dolby Digital, DTS, Dolby Pro Logic and Dolby Pro Logic II which will definitely enhance your movie watching experience. However, if you are looking for some multi-channel audio you should pass on as this receiver does not support it. And we can give it a miss too considering its price. There’s also an analog direct mode if the user wants to hear the audio playback via 2 channels which nullifies the processing.

Now here comes its USP. Providing HDMI connectivity at a cheap price is the only bait Sony is offering. Well, the rear panel has two HDMI inputs and 1 HDMI output as well as 2 component inputs and 1 output which are capable of passing up to 1080i video signals. A note to make here is that it only passes video via HDMI and not audio. But you can connect the audio output with the help of an optical or a coaxial cable.

Overall, this receiver scores well considering the price and features ratio.
