Samsung has managed to develop a LCD panel which can produce independent images on each side of a mobile LCD display which the conventional LCDs are not capable of. Advantage of this LCD is that it would make the device slimmer by 1mm and one LCD panel would be needed instead of two. The size of the display panel is 2.22″, QVGA resolution with 265K colors. The main screen is transmissive in nature which means it uses backlight while the second screen is reflective, that is it uses external source of light to display images. Samsung will start mass producing in the first half of 2007.
