When you’ve got over 115 product wins in the bag, why do you need another processor is what you’d think. But Qualcomm’s strategy tends to differ as they have introduced the Snapdragon 821 that builds on the success of its current generation flagship – Snapdragon 820. Qualcomm says the new Snapdragon 821 is not there to replace the Snapdragon 820 but will instead “complement and extend the competitive strengths of our Snapdragon 800 lineup”.
Performance-wise, Snapdragon 821 is said to be 10 percent faster than 820 that reaches speeds up to 2.4GHz and comes with the same reliability as the 820.
Qualcomm expects Snapdragon 821-powered devices will make its way to the market in the second half of 2016 with Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe to be the one of the first phones.
