M200

Laser printers are fast and offer an amazing print quality but have a high cost print per page. Inkjets on the other hand, are cheaper but offer lower quality prints. Epson however, tries to give the best of both worlds by giving speed and lower cost per page with the M200.

The M Series of printers are the latest breed of printers that support Epson’s ink tank system. While the system may sound a bit of marketing term, the important thing to know is that it helps to lower the cost of the print.

The M200 features a 2 line LCD on the front along with physical buttons on the front panel of the device. The top part of the printer sports an automatic document feeder while the flat bed scanner is located beneath it. The ink tank is located on the side for an easy refill. The printer also comes with Ethernet port allowing users to print on a network.

Setting up and using the printer is fairly easy. The printer can be configured over USB to be used with a PC or can be used as a standalone copier machine with the help of the buttons. As for the performance, we were more than satisfied with the output.

The printer is fast with a speed of up to 15ppm in normal mode and goes up to 34 pages per minute in draft mode. In short, the printer does give some good run for its money to laser printers. But high speed does not mean compromise on performance and cost. The M200 is capable of printing in 720dpi resolution and boasts a cost of 12 paise per page. This price reduction is possible with the ink tank system and the ~Rs. 700 ink bottle capable of a yield of up to 6,000 pages.

The M200 gives no reason to complain about. Not only does the printer lower the cost of print, it is capable of working as a networked printer and a copier.

The M200 all-in-one mono ink tank system goes for Rs. 13,999.

Rating: 4stars
Pros: Cost effective, Easy to use
Cons: NA
