As expected, Microsoft has officially confirmed Windows 8.1’s RTM milestone. The RTM or Release to Manufacturing copy of Windows 8.1 and Windows 8.1 RT is now being seeded to hardware manufacturers, which means they can use the shipped code to ready devices for timely release.
Previously, RTM version of Windows was instantly available to TechNet and MSDN subscribers but this time Microsoft is holding off the release and making it available alongside regular users.
Microsoft will release the Windows 8.1 on October 18 (or 17 depending on the timezone you live in) and will bring in features like improved snap view, revival of the Start button, search, boot to Desktop mode.
