Say what you want to about Windows 8 but Microsoft is clocking some decent sales figures of the new operating system. The 6-month old OS has now surpassed 100 million licenses which includes licenses to new tablets, PCs and upgrades. Microsoft has certified 2,400 devices for Windows 8 and Windows RT and is optimistic about more touch devices to be certified in the near future.
In addition to the milestone, another piece of news is Microsoft’s confirmation of Windows Blue. The next major update codenamed Windows Blue has swirled for a while and Microsoft says users can expect the update later this year.
While Microsoft does not say what new things are expected in the Windows Blue, the update is built “on the bold vision set forward with Windows 8 to deliver the next generation of tablets and PCs. It will deliver the latest new innovations across an increasingly broad array of form factors of all sizes, display, battery life and performance, while creating new opportunities for our ecosystem.”
