LG showed off the curved OLED television at the CES earlier this year and now the company has announced to sell the television in Korea next month. LG has started accepting taking pre-orders of the television from today across 1400 LG retail stores and expects to ship the TV from next month. LG has priced the 55-inch 55EA9800 at 15 million won (approx. US$13,500).
LG claims the curved form factor of the TV provides an ‘IMAX-like’ viewing experience in the comfort of the home.
The TV is just 4.3mm thin, weighs 17kgs and adopts WRGB OLED technology that uses a white sub-pixel with the conventional red, blue, green setup to create a better colour output.
LG became the world’s first player to commercially ship an OLED television and will be the first as well to ship the curved OLED TV beating Samsung in the race.
Here are some hands-on pictures of the curved OLED TV.

Curved LEDs are definitely the way to the future of gadgets. Thrilled to imagine that in 1-2 years they could be so inexpensive that even I can setup my own cool looking rig like Tony Stark in Iron man 🙂
But on a different note, how is the durability of these curved displays?
Kunal Gangar says
Durability is the same as you’d expect from a regular OLED TV.
