It seems to be a consensus between the consumers and manufacturers that 7 to 9-inch of a screen is considered an ideal size for a tablet. Google, Apple, Samsung, BlackBerry have one and going by Wall Street Journal’s report, Microsoft will soon add to the line as well.
According to their sources, Microsoft is developing a 7-inch tablet running Windows 8 and will go into mass production later this year. The reason for Microsoft to develop a smaller-sized Windows tablet is to give consumers an affordable way to experience Windows and counter competition from Google’s Nexus 7 and Apple’s iPad mini.
The WSJ report also claims Microsoft to be testing its own smartphone however, there’s no information if it will ever come to the market.
