Google and Asus will soon release a new generation Nexus 7 tablet, claims Reuters. The agency cites two sources who say that a second-generation Nexus 7 will be released to the general public around July and will be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.
While a new Nexus tablet may not be as surprising as the choice of processor. The first Nexus tablet featured an Nvidia Tegra 3 SoC but Reuters says Snapdragon won the place due to “power reasons”
The new Nexus 7 tablet is said to have a higher resolution and a thinner bezel design.
As for the price, the source claims it could be at the same level as present, which starts from $199 while discounting the first-gen Nexus 7 tablets or Google could escalate a price war by pricing the new tablets from $149 and discontinuing the previous-gen tablets completely.
Whatever the case is, we’ll definitely know at Google I/O next month.
