LG has announced an updated Magic Remote for its Cinema 3D range of Smart TVs. LG says the new remote control is the “most complete universal remote” and concentrates on four options of interactivity – voice, gesture, point and wheel.
The Magic remote control improves on the voice recognition capability with the Natural Language Recognition software that allows users to give commands in a “conversational manner.” For instance, “show me Gangnam Style video” will start playing the music video.
Other features include using the remote control as a motion-based gaming controller (à la Wii controller), wheel control to scroll through webpages and gesture support.
LG will bundle the Magic Remote in two variants – one will be sold with the premium Cinema 3D Smart TV models with back-lit buttons and a regular one with standard Cinema 3D Smart TV models.
LG will showcase the remote at CES next month.
