At the WWDC keynote yesterday Apple announced their OS X Mountain Lion will be available in July from the Mac App Store. Mountain Lion will be Apple’s ninth major OS release and will bring in more than 200 features which includes Messages, Notification Center, Facebook integration, Dictation, Game Center etc.
Messages replaces the iChat app on the Mac and brings iMessages that will allow users to send messages and files to any user on an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Mac. Additionally, Messages supports IM services like AIM, Yahoo!, Google Talk and Jabber.
Just like the iOS, Mountain Lion also gets the Notification Center that will notify users about important events on the Mac.
Mountain Lion gets system-wide Sharing that makes sharing anything on the Mac really easy. Furthermore, Facebook integration also ensures users won’t miss out on the social happenings of their friends.
Apple will sell the OS from July for $20.
