Samsung has announced a new messaging platform of their own dubbed as ChatOn. Unlike BlackBerry Messenger or iMessages, Samsung’s ChatOn works on multiple platforms, thus allowing communication with a user using any device. ChatOn will be launched in September in over 120 countries and will support sending data like texts, images, video, contacts etc.
Samsung will release two variants of the ChatOn app which will be meant for feature phone users and smartphone users. ChatOn on feature phone will allow to do basic functionality like sharing of text, images, calendars and contacts but the functionality will be greatly enhanced in the smartphone version that will bring features like Interaction Rank, user profile comments and Animation Messages.
Samsung will showcase the service at IFA 2011.
