Well, you won’t have the goodness of an Android OS but if you want your regular HDTV to surf the web, use apps or stream content from DLNA-compatible devices, LG has announced ST600 aka the Smart TV Upgrader. This little device connects to your TV and transforms the television to a “Smart TV,” akin to what Google does with its supplementary add-on.
As far as technical specifications go, the Smart TV upgrader is powered by a BCM7615 CPU and features 1GB of Flash memory, 384MB RAM, built-in browser, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, DLNA, 1 USB port, access to premium content and LG Apps Store.
LG Smart TV Upgrader will be showcased at the CES next week and will be retailed starting from second quarter of 2011.
