Research in Motion unveiled its latest Blackberry device for the Indian market. The Torch (9800) is RIM’s first device to sport a full touchscreen display, physical QWERTY keyboard and run Blackberry OS 6.
The phone is packed with features and will please Blackberry enthusiasts with 3G support, 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display (480×360 pixels) optical trackpad, 5MP camera with flash, Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 2.1, 512MB RAM and ROM, 8GB internal storage, GPS, geo-tagging support and microSD card slot.
We also had a chance to play with the device for quite some time and undoubtedly, it is one of the better phones to come out of RIM’s stable. The phone has a 624MHz CPU and though the Torch seemed responsive at most times, there was a slight lag when playing a video or surfing a webpage on its Webkit web browser. Talking about the browser, it now supports tabbed browsing, which is an added bonus.
The phone will retail in India for Rs.35,000.
