With CDMA iPhone rumors gaining traction, Wall Street Journal is reporting that Indian CDMA operators, Tata and Reliance Communications are looking to launch the CDMA iPhone in India.
“Tata has been in talks with them [Apple] for four to five months now,” said WSJ’s source.
A CDMA iPhone in the world’s biggest telecom market makes sense but as Daryl Chiam, a senior analyst at research firm Canalys points out, CDMA iPhone wouldn’t “generate significant volumes in India” mainly due to the large market share of GSM.
Currently, Airtel and Vodafone sell the iPhone in India.
