RIM has put an end to speculation about its new Blackberry OS and confirmed that it is indeed coming out this year. At an analyst call yesterday, co-CEO Mike Lazaridis announced that the new OS dubbed as Blackberry 6 can be expected in next calendar quarter or put it simply, in third quarter of 2010. While RIM didn’t out many details regarding the OS, the operating system is destined to come on both touch and non-touch Blackberry devices. Moreover, Webkit-based browser is promised on the new OS but Lazaridis was quick to point out that rendering on the platform could face some problems.
Blackberry 6 was leaked a few days back that confirmed multitouch, improved UI, revamped media player and more.
